Belarus foursome wins 1,000-meter kayak 4

BEIXIAOYING TOWN, China (AP) Belarus has won the gold medal in men's 1,000-meter kayak four, the second straight first-place finish for the country on the flatwater.
The foursome of Raman Piatrushenka, Aliaksei Abalmasau, Artur Litvinchuk and Vadzim Makhneu won the Olympic gold medal in 2 minutes, 7.14 seconds on Friday. The victory followed a win by Andrei and Aliaksandr Bahdanovich in the previous event in the 1,000-meter canoe double.
The Slovakian crew of Richard and Michal Riszdorfer, Erik Vlcek and Juraj Tarr won silver in 2:46.593. Lutz Altepost, Norman Brockl, Torsten Eckbrett and Bjorn Goldschmidt of Germany took bronze in 2:56.676.
