USA Canoe/Kayak is pleased to announce the following athletes have been selected to represent USA at the Olympic Hopes Regatta in Budapest, Hungary.
Gig Harbor, Wash. is within an hour’s drive from Green Lake, the site of the 2012 U.S. Sprint National Championships. But the Gig Harbor Canoe/Kayak Racing Team felt right at home as they won their first National Championship Team Title. The host club, Seattle Canoe & Kayak Club, finished fourth in the team points rankings.

The action didn’t stop when the flame went out at the Closing Ceremony in London. U.S athletes will be competing at three different canoe/kayak events this week.

Tim Hornsby (Atlanta, Ga.) capped off his first Olympic Games with a 7th place finish in the K1 200m B Final Saturday at Eton Dorney. The finish was good for 15th overall when you factor in the eight participants in the A Final.
Tim Hornsby (Atlanta, Ga.) and Carrie Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) each placed 8th in their respective K1 200m Semifinal races Friday. Hornsby will advance to the Saturday’s B Final.
Three-time Olympian Carrie Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) started strong in her K1 500m Semifinal Tuesday, but faded and was unable to advance. She was the first to reach the 200-meter mark and the third to hit 250 meters. But she was passed by three additional paddlers for a 6th place finish.
USA Canoe/Kayak plans on expanding its Global Presence and Influence.

Penalties again were enough to prevent Women’s K1 Caroline Queen (Darnestown, Md.) and the Men’s Double Canoe tandem of Eric Hurd (Woodstock, Ga.) and Jeff Larimer (Marietta, Ga.) from advancing. Hurd and Larimer finished 12th and Queen 17th Monday to cap off a tough two days for the U.S. Olympic Slalom Team at the Lee Valley White Water Centre.
72 members of the 76-person Dragon Boat USA team hopped in the Schuylkill behind Manayunk Brewery for a three-day intensive training camp.
One penalty was enough to prevent both three-time Olympian Scott Parsons (Bethesda, Md.) and two-time Olympian Casey Eichfeld (Drums, Pa.) from reaching the Semifinals Sunday on a chilly, windy day in Waltham Cross.
