(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – American super heavyweight Cam F. Awesome (Lenexa, Kansas) continued his international success this week at the Felix Stamm Tournament in Warsaw, Poland. Fellow American boxers Marlen Esparza (Houston, Texas), Genaro Gamez (San Diego, Calif.), and Jose Alday, Jr. (Odessa, Texas) each claimed bronze medals at the event.
Awesome defeated four high level opponents during the event in Poland, including foes from Russia in Ukraine in his opening two bouts. He started the competition with a victory over Russia’s Gasan Gimbatov. The win moved Awesome on to the quarterfinal round where he battled Ukraine’s Vladyslav Sirenko. Awesome’s second win set up a bout with Georgia’s Tornike Puritcha Maishvili in the semifinal round. He recorded a unanimous decision victory over Maishvili in semifinal action to earn a spot in the super heavyweight championship bout.
