Nominating and Governance Committee

To be in compliance with USA Boxing’s new bylaws, a new Board of Directors will soon be in place.  In order to elect/select this new board, a Nominating and Governance Committee must first be formed as it will be this committee that will vet candidates for Board selection.

USA Boxing is calling for interested and qualified candidates to serve on the
 Nominating and Governance Committee.

The Nominating and Governance Committee shall be made up of:
  • Four (4) Independents
  • One (1) Athlete
Independent is defined as having no material relationship – a relationship that might interfere with the director’s independent judgment.  An Independent cannot be employed by or directly related to someone employed by USAB, AIBA, the USOC, USAB auditor or counsel.  An Independent cannot serve as a coach or official, or be affiliated as an officer or committee member of an LBC or Group member.  An Independent cannot be an officer, shareholder or partner of a partnership or corporation that does business with AIBA, the USOC, or USAB.  An Independent cannot be a current Board member.

The Athlete member will be appointed by the current USAB Athletes’ Advisory Council (AAC). The athlete appointed does not need to be a member of the AAC.

What does the Nominating and Governance Committee do?
  • Identify and evaluate prospective candidates for the Board
  • Vet all the candidates and insure they meet the requirements
  • Make recommendations as to who should sit on the Board
  • Oversee the Board of Director’s election process
Terms of the Nominating and Governance Committee
