(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – After an undefeated opening day at the Olympic Cup in Salinas, Puerto Rico, Team USA went 2-2 on the second session of action. Light flyweight Leroy Davila (New Brunswick, N.J.) earned his second win in as many days while light welterweight Jose Alday (Odessa, Texas) claimed his first win of the Olympic Cup. Bantamweight Eduardo Martinez (Aurora, Ill.) and heavyweight Michael Hilton (Trenton, N.J.) both dropped their Olympic Cup contests on Tuesday night.
Davila took on an opponent from the Dominican Republic after facing Puerto Rican foes in his earlier contests. He won a 3-0 decision over Gerardo Valdez in the first United States bout of the evening.
Alday faced off with Puerto Rico’s Carlos Bernier in light welterweight action, taking a 3-0 decision over Bernier.
Martinez dropped a 3-0 decision to Guatemala’s Juan Reyes following his victory on Monday. Hilton lost a 2-1 decision to Brazil’s Juan Nogueira in their heavyweight battle.
Olympic Cup action continues on Thursday night, and Team USA is prepared for another strong international performance.
