The 2013 USA Boxing National Championships will feature changes in several areas from the national championship events of past years. It is important that you read all the information included in the event fact sheet. Due to rule changes by AIBA, the 2013 USA Boxing National Championships will include two age groups for both the male and female divisions - Youth (17 and 18-year-olds) and Elite (19-40-year-olds). The online registration system will ensure that you are placed in the right division based on your birth date. Boxers in the youth age division will not have the option to compete in the elite division.
In addition to the different age divisions, there will be two separate divisions in the male elite age group, one competing with headgear (senior division) and one competing without headgear (elite division). Only the boxers competing in the elite division (no headgear) will advance to international competition.
Bouts will now be scored using the 10-point must system. More information on the new scoring system will be forthcoming shortly.
