2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Returns to the Ring on February 6 on ShoBox

Feb. 04, 2009, 12:16 p.m. (ET)

2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward (Oakland, Calif.) (17-0) will return to the ring, this Friday, February 6 in a super middleweight match-up with Henry Buchanan (Capitol Heights, Md.) (17-1) at the Tachi Palace and Casino in Leemore, Calif. The contest, which marks Ward's second bout since knee surgery over the summer, will serve as the main event on ShoBox.

Despite Ward's training camp schedule, the 24-year-old traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., January 25-27 to participate in USA Boxing's Coaches Symposium and provided his valued input to the organization as it rebuilds following Beijing.

The United States' last Olympic champion, Andre and his wife, Tiffiney, welcomed a new addition in June with the birth of his daughter, Amira. She joins big brothers Malachi and Andre, Jr., in completing the Ward family.
