Skeleton team selection races continue on Wednesday
PARK CITY, Utah (Oct. 29, 2012)- Skeleton athletes will be trick-or-treating for gold this Halloween as U.S. national team selection races continue in Park City, Utah. The final two competitions of the selection series will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 5 pm and Thursday, Nov. 1 at 4 pm MST at the Utah Olympic Park.
The U.S. has qualified three men’s sleds on both the World Cup and Intercontinental Cup tours, while the women’s team qualified two sleds on each circuit. The 10 national team members will be named late Thursday evening following the final competition.
John Daly swept the Lake Placid, N.Y. races to lead the men with 438 points, and Kyle Tress is currently ranked second with 382 points. Mike Dellemann is third with 264 points, with Greg West just two points away in fourth. Matt Antoine has already secured a position on the national team for his performances last season.
Noelle Pikus-Pace dominated the first two races and leads the women with 447 points. Kimber Gabryszak is comfortably seated in second position with 374 points, and Savannah Graybill is just one point ahead of Annie O’Shea for third. Katie Uhlaender’s 2012 World Championship title earned her a spot on the 2012-2013 national team.
