Official Training Day Two

IGLS, Austria (Jan. 19, 2012)-Official training for the Youth Olympic Games bobsled and skeleton competitions continued today at the Olympic Sliding Center.  The team is making steady progress before racing begins this weekend. Here’s what our athletes had to say on training day two:

Jake Peterson (Princeton, Minn.): Men’s Bobsled Brakeman
“Today was a great day for me.  I finally got my push down and now it’s just up to Codie to get us down the track. We will see how tomorrow goes and then it’s race day on Sunday.”

Codie Bascue (Whitehall, N.Y.): Men’s Bobsled Driver
“Today was another great day of training. There are still a few things I have to work on driving-wise, but I left the track happy today. I am looking forward to our one last day of official training and our race on Sunday! I am extremely excited to see if our hard work and many hours that we have put in will pay off in the end. Other than that, I am still having a great time in Austria with all of the other countries and it is just an all around amazing experience so far.”

Elizabeth Maxwell (Draper, Utah): Women’s Skeleton
“Today was a tough day of training. My runs didn't go exactly the way I wanted them to, but I was still able to learn from them and I'm still making a lot of progress. I'm excited for the race and I hope I can redeem myself during tomorrow's training. “

Timi Earl (Heber City, Utah): Women’s Skeleton
“Training has been a bit harder than I had expected. The other athletes are very talented and I hope to do a little better compared to them next time. I was a little disappointed in my times, but I hope to do a better job tomorrow. I've been paying attention to the mistakes I've been making and I'm going to focus on fixing them.”

Anthony Herringshaw (Fort Plain, N.Y.): Men’s Skeleton
“Training has been a bit harder, but it is going good. My runs are getting better and there is one more day until the race. I hope all of us do well in the race; I’m just trying to be more focused so I don’t mess up. But, this has been the best time of my life and I just wish the week was not over because this is the best year I have ever had.”
