LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (March 11, 2013)- Matt Roy of Lake Placid, N.Y. has been elected Club Director of the U.S. Bobsled & Skeleton Federation (USBSF) board of directors.  The sports of bobsled and skeleton have been a significant part of Roy’s life since 1980, and the USBSF is excited for Roy to serve in a new role with the board of directors.

Roy competed as a bobsledder from 1980 to 1990 before accepting the position as USBSF Executive Director in 1992.  Roy spent 11 years leading the sports of bobsled and skeleton, and was instrumental to the addition of women’s bobsled and skeleton to the Olympic roster.

Roy currently teaches biology, physical science and physics at Northwood School in Lake Placid, and also coaches the soccer, crew, whitewater kayak, recreational ski and high school ski teams.  Roy is also a board member for the Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum and volunteers with the Lake Placid Marathon.

The USBSF is honored to have Roy join its board of directors.  Please join us in welcoming him to the team.
