Absentee Ballot

Sept. 22, 2008, 9:37 a.m. (ET)

On November 4th, registered voters will be electing the next President and Vice President of the United States. Due to testing, training and competing after the selection races in Park City, many of you will be in Lake Placid or Calgary and unable to vote in your home states. In spite of this challenge, I encourage all of you to take part in the election process. You still have time to register if you have not yet done so. If you are unable to vote in person in your home state, you may still vote via the absentee ballot process. The process is very simple. You can go to http://govoteabsentee.org/ and type in your zip code for instructions specific to your state. Each state has different deadlines for receiving the mail-in ballets, so you should start the process early. The right of every citizen to vote is one of the things that makes our country great. When you go to the White House after the Olympic Games and meet the new president, you will know that you played a role in the process.
