U.S. Skeleton World Cup Team Announced
PARK CITY, Utah -The U.S. skeleton World Cup team was announced following the final team trials competition tonight in Park City, Utah. Athletes battled it out for a position on the team in a series of four races held in Lake Placid, N.Y. and Park City, Utah. Each athlete's top three results were calculated to determine the team.
"We're leaving for Europe for the first World Cup competition with a solid team," said Orvie Garrett, U.S. skeleton head coach. "We had four competitive team trials races, and several athletes set their personal best times. Having World Championships on our home track in Lake Placid is a great opportunity for us."
The following athletes were named to the women's skeleton World Cup team: Katie Uhlaender (Breckenridge, Colo.), Noelle Pikus-Pace (Orem, Utah) and Courtney Yamada (Boise, Idaho).
The men's skeleton World Cup team will be as follows: Zach Lund (Salt Lake City, Utah), Eric Bernotas (Avondale, Pa.) and Caleb Smith (Lake Placid, N.Y.).
