BWF ID Application for US Open

May 01, 2013, 6:23 p.m. (ET)

If you wish to play in the 2013 US Open but do not have a BWF ID, please follow the following instructions:

If you are a U.S. Citizen but have never competed for the U.S., you must:

1. Join USAB as a Member online through this link
2. Must obtain a BWF ID #. In order to do that, complete a ‘new player profile’ by clicking this link
3. When completing the form, type in ‘CAPITAL” and save in “WORD FORMAT.”
4. Email the completed form and copy of your passport (in pdf) to Lauren LeQuire at lauren.lequire@usabadminton.org and copy Mohan Subramaniam at mohan@usabadminton.org by Monday, May 6th 2013 to request a BWF ID.
6. You are advised to use your legal name for the BWF  # ID
7. Note that the process may be time consuming as it involves the USAB National Office communicating with the BWF to obtain a BWF # ID. As such, USAB National Office does not guarantee that neither they nor the BWF will be able to approve the BWF ID in time.

If you are not a U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. for more than 3 months, and would like to compete “under the U.S. flag” (under the jurisdiction of USA Badminton), you must:
1. Join USAB as a Member online through this link
2. Contact Lauren LeQuire at lauren.lequire@usabadminton.org and copy Mohan Subramaniam, at mohan@usabadminton.org by Monday, May 6th 2013 to request for a transfer of jurisdiction
3. Send application by email and application should include the following:
 - BWF New Player Process & Transfer Form (must be completed)
 - Copy of passport (in pdf)
 - Copy of passport page with visa (in pdf)
 - Copy of “green card” (if available) in pdf
 - Copy of passport page with the first date of entry into the USA (in pdf)
 - Proof of USA physical address (any document including driver license in pdf – note address must match the USAB profile address)
 - Admin fee of $200.00 – pay by credit card. Email the completed credit card authorization form to Lauren LeQuire at lauren.lequire@usabadminton.org and copy Mohan Subramaniam, at mohan@usabadminton.org by Monday May 6, 2013

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Please note that, this is a time consuming process and USAB does not guarantee that the application for jurisdiction change can be approved in time as the decision does not lie solely with USAB. The decision involves the BWF and the applicant’s previous member association.
