Jun 14 Team USA Heads to World University Games

USA Badminton is very excited to have badminton join World University Games for the first time.  The team consists of 2 men and 2 women, they are Michael Bausan, Danae Long, Randy Ma and Sharon Ng. They will be competing in both team and individual events. Michael is a freshman at San Jose State University in California and Danae is a freshman at San Francisco State in California. Randy is a freshman at John Hopkins University in Maryland and Sharon is a freshman at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.

Sharon Ng earned a silver medal in 2012 USA Adult Nationals, she has represented USA in 2010 World Junior and four times (2007-2010) in Pan Am Junior. Sharon has earned a Pan Am Junior Team Event gold medal, and two individual events medals; a silver in U19 GS and a bronze in U19 MX.  Danae Long has represented USA in 2011 World Junior and twice (2010, 2011) in Pan Am Junior. Danae has earned a 4th place finished in Pan Am Junior Team Event  and earned an individual event  bronze medal in U19 GD. Michael  Buasan has represented USA twice (2011, 2012) in World Junior and twice (2007, 2011) in Pan Am Junior. Michael has earned a 4th place finished in Pan Am Junior Team event. Randy Ma has represented USA in 2011 World Junior and twice (2009, 2011) in Pan Am Junior. Randy has earned a 4th place finished in Pan Am Junior Team event.

Badminton Team Coach, Ray Ng, brings along his rich experience in high performance sports for the team. He played basketball for Hong Kong in the 1979 World University Games. Now a US citizen, Ray has lead US teams to the 2010 World Junior Badminton Championships, and 2009 & 2010 Junior Pan American Championships. An USA Badminton certified coach, certified referee and an avid badminton player. Ray is set to bring his passion and leadership to the USA Team in the 2013 World University Games.
