Heads Up for Masters Players

Dec. 06, 2013, 12:50 p.m. (ET)

Masters players have good news coming in the spring of 2014.  The age eligibility issue of the 2013 U.S. Masters National Championships has been settled.  The eligibility date has been changed to the starting day of the tournament  which, next year, will be March 19, 2014.

On another note, a new experimental 75+ age event will be offered at the tournament.  In a survey for Masters players three years ago, support for this kind of event was indicated.  This event would be in addition to the age groups already established in this sanctioned tournament.  That would mean additional court time for the 75+ age group in which all 75+ players who wish to participate will be included.  Because this will be an exhibition event, no entry fee will be charged for participation.  The exact format of the event and players included has not yet been established.  The official format will be determined by the USAB tournament committee with input from the U.S.A.B. Masters Advisory Council and Masters players.

Mark your calendars for March 19-23 in Tucson, and join us.  We want to fill the courts with lots of players and lots of fun for the U.S. Masters Nationals participants.  Entries will be available in the early part of 2014 if not before.
