Indiana University Badminton Club

The Indiana University Badminton Club (IUBC) is located in Bloomington, Indiana, in one of Indiana University’s eight campuses around the state. The club was organized by students in order to promote the sport of badminton on campus; however, the club is also open to the public, and IU faculty, staff, as well as the Bloomington community, are welcome to join the club, as long as students comprise the majority of the club's membership. IU faculty and staff may also serve as advisors to the club.

“We currently have a very capable undergraduate’s leadership board, as well as an experienced advisory board. The goal of the club is not only to bring happiness to the community through the sport of badminton, but also to play at a competitive level” said Shengming Ouyang, president of the Indiana University Badminton Club.

The club hosts two practice sessions every week, in which enthusiastic members are able to play for 4 hours. During these sessions, a coach is available to give training lessons to those who desire to improve their game. According to Shengming, “Badminton is having such great success among the students and the community, that members of the club have started organizing their own training sessions aside from the club’s.”

If you would like to find out more about the club, or if you have any questions, feel free to contact Shengming Ouyang by email, at You can also subscribe to the IUBC mailing list, by sending an email to with the subject line "Subscribe".
