Feb 22 2010 World Junior Championships: Coaching Staff

USA Badminton announces the Team USA Coaching Staff for the 2010 World Junior Championships  which will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico from April 16-25.

Head Coach  - Andy Chong

Andy played for Malaysia in the 80's. He also coached in Sweden between 1990-1991. He has been coaching USA from 1992. Among the many events that Andy had competed in were the: Commonwealth Games, Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup, Asian Games, and World Championships. Some of his achievements include the winner of the Asian U-19, Malaysian Invitation Championships and runner up in the Swiss Open. He has won over ten singles, doubles and mixed doubles US National titles. He was named US Development 1999 Coach of the Year and 2009 National Coach of the Year. He currently works for Bose in Boston and continues to serve his club, Maugus  (Massachusetts) and 
USAB as High Performance Technical Advisor.

 Assistant Coach - Paula Lynn P. Obañana

Paula was the top junior player for the Philippines between 1995-1997 and then the Philippines National Team between 1997-2005.  Among her memorable achievements include winning three gold medals and a bronze at Arafura Games held in Darwin, Australia in 2000. She is currently  coaching at Bintang Badminton Academy. She also served USAB as  Assistant Coach for Team USA at the 2009 Pan Junior Championships in Puerto Rico.
