USA Archery to have a booth at both the ATA Trade Show and the World Archery Festival
The Archery Trade Association (ATA) is about growing archery. It's about youth and education, consumers and retailers, community and archery, government and industry, all of these things are important to USA Archery. USAA will have a presence at the 2010 ATA Show in Columbus, OH, January 13th - 15th. If you are going to be at the ATA Trade Show, please stop by the USA Archery booth #2309.
The World Archery Festival is the largest indoor championships in the U.S.; along with this tournament is the West's largest indoor archery trade show. With the help of the WAF/NFAA USA Archery is proud to have a booth at this show, as well. The World Archery Festival and Trade Show dates are February 19-22, 2010.
I just recently attended the Archery Trade Association (ATA) Summit, held in Nashville this past week. The purpose of the ATA Summit is to bring together those responsible for developing archery and bowhunting programs in communities throughout the United States. USA Archery JOAD was particularly interested in attending this Summit and used it in a way to learn where we can facilitate the transition of NASP and 4H programs alike, into local JOAD Programs.
Representatives from the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP), the International Bowhunting Organization (IBO), and the After School Archery Program (ASAP), the Archery Shooters' Association (ASA), US Collegiate Archery (USCA) and the Departments of Natural Resources from several states, and others who are involved in the growth of the sport of archery were in attendance. Each organization was asked to present on the growth and development of their programs, as well as demonstrating how they have reached out to grassroots organizations such as NASP and 4-H, in order to develop the interest of beginning archers in those programs and transition them into the archery community.
The Summit was very insightful and I am optimistic that USA Archery can help with developing the necessary clubs and provide the necessary tools for the transition from NASP to JOAD to happen.
We have been working on much needed program material support for both new grass roots JOAD Clubs and existing JOAD Clubs. The first material to be rolled out is a new JOAD Brochure that can be used for promoting each of your clubs to your local communities. It is a full color tri-fold brochure that explains what JOAD is. The brochure was designed to allow enough space on the back panel for JOAD Clubs to add their personal contact information, so that your local communities can contact the club directly. We are printing enough so that each club will receive a certain quantity. The brochure was made possible by a grant from the Easton Foundations.
The JOAD Committee is working on revising the JOAD Handbook, making it more of a JOAD Guide. I'll be speaking more about the progress of the Handbook in the upcoming months.
New in 2010 we will be developing a JOAD E-Newsletter. This newsletter will come to you through your email address with exciting stories about JOAD Clubs, JOAD Stars, and Cool items for purchase along with some JOAD Tips from those individuals that have excelled in the JOAD Program. This is the reasons that sending in your updated JOAD Rosters with up to date email addresses are important. I want this information to not only reach all clubs but those individual JOAD members as well.
Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season,
USAA National JOAD Coordinator
