Wondering how to get started in archery?

Junior Olympic Archery Development - called "JOAD" - is the right place to start! JOAD is a nationwide program of USA Archery that provides kids and teens with ongoing archery classes that help you progress from beginner to advanced level archery, at your pace. In JOAD, you'll learn archery, form friendships, develop great life skills and build confidence in yourself. (Looking for an Adult Archery Program? Click here to learn more).

JOAD classes are held at USA Archery clubs across the country. Most clubs have rental equipment so that you can try archery first before investing in equipment. Clubs are led by certified instructors and coaches, and all of our clubs are bound by our SafeSport requirements.

Click here to find a JOAD club near you. If there are no clubs near you, consider starting a new JOAD Club with a group of adult leaders and an instructor or coach. Contact your JOAD State Coordinator for further assistance. They generally know what resources are in your area, so you can email them directly with your questions, or contact USA Archery for help.
