GREEN BAY, WI (March 18, 2012)  - The 2012 US Speedskating American Cup Finals and Short Track Age Group National Championships concluded at the Cornerstone Arena in Green Bay, WI. today. Over 240 skaters from Alaska to Florida, and all points in between, traveled to Green Bay to close the 2011-2012 season.

At the close of today’s competition, 2012 American Cup and Age Group Champions were crowned - including a set of twins, Siobhan and Luca Lim (Annandale, VA), winning the Pony Age Class, and a pair of brothers winning the Midget Men and Junior Men’s titles, Ross and Evan Opeka(McMurray, PA), respectively.

Luca Lim also smashed four National Pony Age Class Records this weekend in the 222m (22.935), 333m (33.866), 500m (49.783) and  777m (1:19.251).

2010 Olympic bronze medalist Kimberly Derrick (Memphis, TN) took the Overall 2012 Ladies American Cup title, winning each of her distances raced this weekend. “I’m very pleased with my performance this weekend in Green Bay, and I look forward to a new season in  2012-13,” said Derrick.

US Speedskating Short Track World Cup team member Jonathan Garcia (Houston, TX), captured the Overall 2012 Men’s American Cup title, winning three out of four races this weekend. “This weekend’s been a really good end to the season. I’m really happy about winning the Overall title and I’m looking forward to next season,” said Garcia.
