LEHMAN SKATES TO BRONZE AT JUNIOR WORLD CUP FINAL IN OBIHIRO

OBIHIRO, Japan - Emery Lehman (Oak Park, Ill.) skated to a bronze medal in the men’s 3000m event at the ISU Junior Long Track World Cup this weekend in Obihiro, Japan. Lehman’s time of 3:52.03 was just 1.82 seconds back from Norway’s Kristian Reistad Fredriksen win at 3:50.21. Cheol-Min Kim (KOR) took silver with 3:50.65. Lehman also skated a 7:32.43 to take 4th in the Mass Start, and a 1:53.65 for 8th in the 1500m this weekend. Steven Hartman (Falcon Heights, MN) placed 21st in the Mass Start with 7:35.65, andAndrew Astalos (Lakeport, MI) finished 23rd (4:45.21).
In the men’s 1000m, Lehman finished 16th (1:14.75), and Astalos placed 18th (1:15.63). Lehman took 8th (1:52.65) in the 1000m, and Anderson placed 20th (1:57.96). Astalos placed 14th in the 500m (37.93), Hartman skated to 20th (39.36), and Anderson took 21st (39.64). Lehman, Hartman and Anderson skated the Team Pursuit to take 6th for Team USA (4:05.89).
Team USA’s ladies (Petra Acker (Saratoga Springs, NY), Hannah Curwin (Duluth, MN), and Jaclyn Rowe (Wheaton, Ill) placed 4th in the Team Pursuit with a time of 3:15.00. Acker skated a 2:06.11 for 8th place in the 1500m, while Curwin finished 12th 2:09.97. Acker posted a time of 1:21.96 for 9th in the 1000m, and in the ladies 3000m, Curwin skated a 4:34.70 for 11th place.
