US Speedskating is saddened to share the news of the passing of two longtime members and friends.
 
Margaret (Peggy) Crowe (St. Louis, MO), 56, a 1976 Olympian, passed away on February 9th. Peggy was a member of the US Short Track team from 1976-79, she competed in Long Track as well. In 1973, Crowe was 17th overall at the World Juniors, placing 4th in the 500. In 1974, she placed 11th at the World Juniors and finished 4th in the 500. In 1975 Crowe finished 14th overall at the World Sprints. Peggy is survived by her companion, Sammy Fowler; her daughter, Emily Crowe-Lawler; her brothers and sisters, Joe Crowe, John Crowe, Mike Crowe, Paul Crowe, Cathy Stephens, Liz Crowe and Maureen Miller. A memorial service is being held for Peggy from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at The Courtyard Marriott in Beaverton. Aaron Cohen, a native of Northbrook, IL, 36, died yesterday from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident while cycling Wednesday morning on the Rickenbacker Causeway in Miami, FL. Cohen was a father of two. Aaron was an avid cyclist and a top age-group skater on US Speedskating’s domestic circuit, while a member of the Amateur Skating Association of Illinois. Memorial information is pending.
