Feb 09 Double-Header World Cup Weekend

KEARNS, UTAH (February 9, 2012) – Speedskating fans will be treated to a full weekend of world class racing as Team USA takes the ice tomorrow in Dordrecht, Netherlands for the Korean Air ISU Short Track World Cup #6, and Hamar, Norway on Saturday for the middle and long distance Essent ISU Long Track World Cup #5.

 

The Korean Air ISU Short Track World Cup #6 will debut in a new venue in the Netherlands at the Sportboulevard Dordrecht.  Racing begins with distance preliminaries on Friday, February 10th, followed by final rounds on Saturday and Sunday, February 11th & 12th.

 

Following a strong performance, netting four additional World Cup medals, at World Cup 5 in Moscow, Team USA looks to add to their season medal tally of 17.  The Team USA short track roster for World Cup #6 includes:

Approximately 1000 miles to the north in Hamar, Norway, Team USA’s long track skaters will compete in the middle and long distance Essent ISU Long Track World Cup #5. The long track team returns to the World Cup circuit, following a successful World Cup #4 (sprint distance), winning six medals on their home ice at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah. The team has tallied 12 World Cup medals to date during the 2011-12 season.
