Podium Day for US Men's Speedskating Long Track Allround Team

December 9, 2007- Berlin, Germany. It was a big day for the US Men's Speedskating Long Track Allround Team on Friday. Competiting at the ISU World Allround Speedskating Championships in Berlin, Germany, American Shani Davis (Chicago, IL) captured a Silver medal in the Men's 500m, missing the Gold medal, won by Canada Denny Morrison, by only 0.04 seconds. Chad Hedrick (Spring, TX) finished 7th overall in the 500m event. Team members Justin Stelly ( Kaplan, LA) and Trevor Marsicano (Ballston Spa, NY) finished 18th and 19th respectively. In the Men's 5000m event, Chad Hedrick earned a Bronze medal, with Davis taking 4th place. Marsicano finished 18th and Stelly finished 23rd. In the Ladies 500m event, U.S. National Champion, Catherine Raney (Elm Grove, WI) battled illness and fever to take the 18th position, with teammate Anna Ringsred (Duluth, MN) earning the 24th spot. In the Ladies 3000m, Raney earned 15th with Ringsred coming in at 24th. The combined overall standings after these two events have Shani Davis in second place and Chad Hedrick in fifth place with two more distances to be skated. The competition wraps up tomorrow with the Men's and Ladies 1500m, Men's 10,000 and Ladies 5000m.
