Gehring Breaks Junior American Speedskating Record

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 9, 2008- Kearns, UT. U.S. World Cup Team Member Lana Gehring broke the American Junior National record for the Ladies 500m. Skating at the Samsung ISU Short Track World Cup #6, Gehring, who was skating in the last chance qualifier, dazzled spectators as she crossed the line in a record time of 44.517 seconds. Gehring also beat the Junior World Record, however, as she is in a competition with Junior and Senior athletes, it will not be considered for the Junior World Record. Gehring and the rest of the World Cup Team will continue their podium bids at 6:00pm when the event continues today at the Utah Olympic Oval.
