All International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Approved events can be found by visiting the by the IPC Athletics Competition Calendar.

Athletes who hold a current IPC Athletics License must compete at an IPC Athletics Approved event for results to count for the IPC Athletics World Ranking List(s), IPC World and Regional record applications, U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Team status and IPC Athletics international competition qualification (i.e., Parapan Am Games, World Championships, Paralympic Games, etc.).

Competitions can be approved in one of two ways.

IPC Athletics IAAF/NF Endorsed Competition Guidelines and Application
IPC Athletics Endorsed Competitions are IAAF/NF able bodied track & field or road competitions in which athletes with a disability may compete and their results will be recognized for IPC Athletics World Ranking List(s), IPC World and Regional record applications, U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Team status and IPC Athletics international competition qualification (i.e., Parapan Am Games, World Championships, Paralympic Games, etc.).

IPC Athletics International/National Competition Guidelines and Application
IPC Athletics Approved International and National Competitions are competitions for athletes with a disability (or where these events form part of a wider programme). Local Organizing Committees/Event Directors must complete this application and submit the required supporting documentation to U.S. Paralympics at least four months in advance of the scheduled competition start date. Upon approval of the competition, an IPC Athletics Technical Delegate will be appointed by IPC Athletics.

2014 International Classification Forms

Guide on How to fill out Medical Diagnostics Forms (please read)
Visual Impairment (VI) Medical Diagnostics Form
Physical Impairment (PI) Medical Diagnostics Form

Athletes must hold a current IPC License in order to request an IPC International Classification appointment. Athletes who meet the criteria can request an IPC International Classification appointment through the entry/registration system for the competition. IPC International Classification Appointments must be requested at least six weeks prior to the date of the classification.

The appropriate Visual Impairment (VI) or Physical Impairment (PI) Medical Diagnostics Form (whichever classification has been requested) must be submitted six weeks prior to the date of the International Classification. Each athlete must submit the form prior to the deadline in order to secure their international classification appointment (failure to follow this procedure will result in cancellation of the classification appointment).  Each form outlines the specific tests, xrays, MRIs, etc. required for various impairments. The Medical Diagnostics form and the supplemental documents must be completed by the athlete’s physician or ophthalmologist.

The Medical Diagnostics Form and supplemental documents should be returned by email to Erin Popovich. Please contact Erin if you have any questions about the forms.
