U.S. sled hockey defeats Canada, set to face Russia for gold

Sled hockey: Team USA going for gold against Russia
Declan Farmer scored twice and had an assist, Josh Pauls collected a goal and an assist, and goaltender Steve Cash made 11 saves to help the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team knock off Canada, 3-0, in the semifinals of the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. Team USA will play Russia in the gold-medal game of the Paralympic Winter Games Saturday, March 15, just four days after Russia defeated the U.S., 2-1, in a preliminary game. Team USA will look to defend its gold medal from the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games to become the first sled hockey team ever to win back-to-back Paralympic golds. More 

 

Alpine skiing: Bathum leads USA with fourth place in men's slalom
Mark Bathum and guide Cade Yamamoto finished fourth in the men's visually impaired slalom to lead Team USA in a cold night of racing under the lights at the Rosa Khutor Alpnie Center. Only a half second separated Bathum and Yamamoto from the podium. After finishing eighth on the first run, Bathum came back to clock the third fastest time on the second run. Bathum won silver in the super-G and finished fifth in the downhill earlier this week. More

Wheelchair curling: Team USA finishes fifth at Paralympic Winter Games
After an 8-6 overtime loss to Great Britain earlier today, Team USA will not advance to a tiebreaker game and finishes fifth at the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. Patrick McDonald, Jimmy Joseph, Penny Greely, David Palmer and Meghan Lino needed losses tonight from China and Slovakia to force tiebreaker games but China defeated Great Britain, 6-3, to claim the fourth and final semifinal berth. Team USA finished 4-5 in the round robin for fifth place. More

Cable to host 2015 IPC Nordic Skiing World Championships
Today the International Paralympic Committee announced that the 2015 IPC Nordic Skiing World Championships will be held in Cable, Wis., Jan. 24-Feb. 1, and will feature 180 athletes from 20 countries. More

Fueling Communities presented by BP: Steve Cash, sled hockey

At 4 years old, Steve Cash became a cancer survivor. Now, at 24, he is competing in sled hockey for Team USA at his third Paralympic Winter Games. Today, Cash gives back to those communities that helped shaped his life. He coaches at the Disabled Athletes Sports Association and works with the Pediatric Cancer Foundation to spread awareness about the unique needs of children affected by cancer. More

Alpine skiing
2 p.m. – Men's and women's super combined (super-G event), all classes

Biathlon
10 a.m. – Men's 15km and women's 12.5km, sitting

12:30 p.m. – Men's 15km and women's 12.5km, standing

3:20 p.m. – Men's 15km and women's 12.5km, visually impaired
