Day 7 of the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, produced eight medals for Team USA, including a sweep of the first-ever men’s snowboard cross competition with Evan Strong winning gold, Mike Shea winning silver and Keith Gabel winning bronze. Amy Purdy won a bronze in the inaugural women’s event. In alpine skiing, Team USA’s Mark Bathum and Heath Calhoun won silvers while Stephanie Jallen and Danelle Umstead, with guide Rob Umstead, won bronzes.
