WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Tryouts for the 2014-15 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team take place today and tomorrow (July 12-13) at The Northtown Center at Amherst. Forty-nine players will be divided into four teams and play two scrimmages per day. Team USA's final roster will be announced the week of July 21.

Among the competitors are 11 players from the 2014 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team that earned the gold medal at the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, earlier this year. Gold medalists Taylor Lipsett (Mesquite, Texas) and Andy Yohe (Bettendorf, Iowa) recently announced their retirements from competitive play while Taylor Chace (Hampton Falls, New Hampshire), Rico Roman (Portland, Oregon) and Greg Shaw (Merritt Island, Florida) have also elected to take the year off from competitive sled hockey.

Another 13 players skated for the 2013-14 U.S. National Developmental Sled Hockey Team that regularly trains with Team USA.

The 2014-15 U.S. National Developmental Sled Hockey Team will also be announced the week of July 21. Attendees at this weekend's tryouts as well as participants in the 2014 USA Hockey Sled Player Development Camp (July 15-18) will be considered for the squad.
