Team USA beats Slovenia in women's sitting volleyball
LONDON – The U.S. Paralympic Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team was victorious over Slovenia Saturday at ExCel, sweeping the series 3-0. The win comes after the team fell to China on Friday.
"We didn't change our tactics,” said coach Bill Hamiter following the match, which was Team USA’s second game in pool play. The top four teams in the women’s competition will qualify for the knockout phase, and the winners of the semi-finals will face off for the gold medal. As the tournament progresses, Hamiter is optimistic about the team’s prospects.
“We hope to play China in the final and beat them this time,” he said.
Katie Holloway, who was on the 2008 Paralympic team that won silver, was the top scorer for the team for the second straight match. She is quick to give the credit to her team. “It's not really me being the best scorer,” she said. “It's more related to the good passing of the team and the serving.”
The U.S. will face Brazil in its final pool play game on Monday.
