Jennifer Stone returned home from her second deployment and was shot twice in a drive-by shooting. When she returned on duty, former Air Force Airman developed symptoms of PTSD and recently retired in March.
“Through sports and through the Wounded Warriors program, it kind of built my confidence back up,” Stone said. “It helped me see other people who are going through probably worse circumstances than I am, and they still come out here, and they give it their all.”
After competing in swimming last year, Stone is one of the few women participating in the 2012 Warrior Games presented by Deloitte going for the Ultimate Champion award. She has competed in sitting volleyball, cycling, wheelchair basketball and track and field.
