Anthony Pone, a retired Army specialist, was injured in a car accident that resulted in the amputation of his right leg above the knee. "As soon as they let me out of the hospital, I was ready to start living," the 6-foot-9 former community college basketball player said. "It was just time to move on."
He turned to wheelchair basketball for rehabitlation. Now Prone, one of the highest performing athletes at the 2012 Warrior Games presented by Deloitte, is the “Athlete of the Day” for May 3. A new athlete will be selected each day from May 1-5 and profiled on USParalympics.org.
