Team USA opens IPC Nordic World Cup with Top 10 results
VUOKATTI, Finland — Two members of the U.S. Paralympic Nordic National Team, Dan Cnossen and Andy Soule, traveled to Vuokatti, Finland for the season opening International Paralympic Committee Nordic World Cup events, last week. Over the two cross-country and three biathlon races, the two had impressive Top 10 highlights as they build towards the 2013 World Championships in Feb. in Solleftea, Sweden.
Cnossen (Topeka, Kan.) finished with two Top 10 results including a career best fifth place finish, which brought him within 10 seconds of a podium. Vancouver 2010 Paralympic biathlon bronze medalist Soule (Pearland, Texas) showed he is getting back into peak fitness with two Top 10 results, hitting his targets with precision shooting — 9 out of 10 targets — in the sprint biathlon event earning an eighth place result. Next for Cnossen and Soule is the U.S. Adaptive Nordic National Championships at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah. After nationals, the athletes head to Cable, Wis., for a World Cup event, Jan. 13-20.
