Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo to attend Warrior Games

Phoenix, AZ – 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist and Author Henry Cejudo will attend the Inaugural Warrior Games presented by the Department of Defense in collaboration with the USOC, USO, and Ride 2 Recovery (R2R). As an honorary guest, Cejudo will meet with many of the injured soldiers and will speak at the VIP reception. The Warrior Games will take place May 10 -14 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Olympic gold medalist and author Henry Cejudo had this to say, “ I would like to take a moment to thank Charlie Huebner, Chief of Paralympics from the U.S. Olympic Committee, for inviting me to take part in this amazing event. It is truly an honor.”

Cejudo went on to say, “The injured service members that take part in the Warrior Games stand strong in the face of adversity. Instead of letting their injuries slow them down, they embrace their abilities and never lose sight of their dreams. Their strength is truly a symbol of America’s unwavering spirit. I am looking forward to watching these amazing athletes in action!”

The Warrior Games celebrate the achievements and abilities of wounded, ill, and injured members of the military. The games also emphasize the importance of physical activity as an integral aspect of rehabilitation. Approximately 200 injured service men and women from the five primary branches of the military will participate in this Olympic style competition.
