UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships Begin Thursday
BOGOGNO, Italy--The UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships begin this week with 14 U.S. athletes competing in the time trial and road race events.
The women's squad is comprised of the same group that competed at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing and won five medals on the road.
The men's team features four Beijing Paralympians, including three medalists, and four athletes making their first appearance at the road world championships.
The event features 250 athletes from 35 countries and 38 world championship titles will be awarded across classifications. The competition schedule, news and photos can be found on the official event Web site at http://www.bogogno2009.com/home_ing.php.
