COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2009-10 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will play in its first International Paralympic Committee sanctioned tournament of the season when it travels to Charlottetown, P.E.I., next week for the 2009 World Sledge Hockey Challenge.
Team USA will face off against teams from Canada, Japan and Norway as it continues to prepare for the upcoming 2010 Paralympic Winter Games in March. The U.S. will start its World Sledge Hockey Challenge play Nov. 17 when it takes on Canada at the Capital Area Recreation Inc. Complex's MacLauchlan Arena. Puck drop is slated for 6 p.m. EST. NOTES: The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team finished third at the 2008 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, posting a 2-0-0-2 record against Canada, Japan and Norway ... Team USA has posted a 4-1-1-1 record in exhibition games this season against Canada and Japan ... The 2010 Paralympic Winter Games will take place from March 13-20 in Vancouver. The 2009-10 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will be trimmed from 18 players to 15 to form the 2010 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team ...
