EDMOND, Okla.--In an effort to go "paperless", registration for the 2009 UCO Endeavor Games for Athletes with Physical Disabilities is now available online. The Internet based registration will also be easier for athletes across the nation and around the world to participate in the 10th Annual Games.
The nationally known, multi-sport event will take place June 11-14 in Edmond, Okla. at UCO, Edmond North High School, Cheyenne Middle School and the UCO Center for Outdoor Adventure Recreation. Athletes with physical disabilities of all ages can now register at www.ucoendeavorgames.com.
The Games will feature 11 total sport competitions including two new competitions in cycling and sitting volleyball. The other sport competitions to be offered are powerlifting, table tennis, wheelchair basketball, swimming, shooting, wheelchair track & field, indoor archery, outdoor archery, and ambulatory track & field.
The U.S. Paralympic Military Program is sponsoring sport clinics on Thursday, June 11 for aspiring athletes looking to learn a new sport, or for those wanting to develop their current abilities in a sport. These clinics include indoor archery, cycling, rowing, sitting volleyball, shooting, strength and conditioning, and track & field.
The Games will also feature special events this year to commemorate 10 years of excellence in disabled sport. The Amp 1 standing ambulatory basketball team will host an open tournament that will be held Friday, June 12 at 2 p.m. and the Opening Ceremony will follow at 7:30 p.m. An adaptive yoga class will be another new addition to the Games. The class will be offered at no extra charge on Saturday, June 13 for all participants interested.
The Endeavor Games is recognized by U.S. Paralympics, Disabled Sports USA, United States Association of Blind Athletes, USA Track & Field, and Wheelchair Sports USA.
