Colorado Springs, Colo. - USA Judo is pleased to announce the launch of judo classes for athletes with blindness and visual impairments in South Florida. The program kicked off on June 20 andsessions are held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoons
Jhonny Prado (Coral Springs, Fla.), head coach of the USA Judo National Training Site at North Miami, is the program's director.
"The start of this program will allow visually impaired and blind students the opportunity to participate in judo, a sport that requires minimal adaptations and also will allow them to compete alongside sighted athletes," said USA Judo CEO Jose H. Rodriguez (Colorado Springs, Colo.) "We want to thank the Miami Dade Parks & Recreation management and leadership for taking part in our vision to expand awareness of the sport of judo to this community."
