Registration Open for U.S. Handcycling Series Season Finale

In partnership with the US Handcycling, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, and Greenville Hospital System, officials with Medalist Sports wish to formally invite you to participate in the season-ending handcycling event in conjunction with the USA Cycling Professional Championships in Greenville, SC, August 29-30.

Event and Course Details

Time Trial - Saturday, August 29

Location - Millennium Dr at CU-ICAR (Greenville, SC), 29607

Time - 8:30 am

Distance - 14 miles / 22.5 kilometers

Course - 7 mile loop with rolling terrain.

Handcyclists will participate in a 14 mile time trial, utilizing the same course as their world class, professional counterparts. Top handcyclists are expected to race on the challenging, yet fast season time trial closer.

Downtown Criterium - Sunday, August 30

Location - Downtown Greenville, SC Main & Camperdown streets, 29601

Time - 11:15 am

Distance - 30 minutes

Course - 1 kilometer (.62 miles) fast course

Handcyclists will participate in an exciting, 30-minute criterium in front of a huge crowd of more than 10,000 in downtown Greenville. The USPRO men's field will begin their road race on the criterium circuit with three laps downtown before heading out of town for the first of four, long circuits. Handcyclists will race a 30-minute criterium immedately following the departure of the PRO men's field.

Handcycling Mixer and Reception - Saturday, August 29

Location - to be determined

Time - 6:00 pm

Race participants, sponsors, and staff will join U.S. Handcycling and representatives from the Paralyzed Veterans, Greenville Hospital System, and Medallist Sports, for an informal, U.S. Handcycling Series "finale party" in Greenville on Saturday evening. Appetizers, awards, and even some videos are scheduled.

Hotel Accommodations

Courtyard by Marriott, Greenville

Race organizers will provide two nights accommodations (August 28 and August 29) for registered handcyclists. Two room nights will be provided based on a double occupancy basis (that is: two handcyclists per room). Athletes who request a private room or are not sharing with another registered handcyclist will be covered for only one room night.

Rooms are limited, and are available first come, first serve.

TO RESERVE YOUR ROOM, please use the following procedure:

- Send an email to: mailto: hotel@ushf.org and include the following information:

- Your name, and confirmation of the hotel nights you will be staying

- Your roomates name, or preferred roomates name

- Indicate if you do NOT want to share with another athlete (eligible for 1 night only)

- You must sent this email no later than Friday, August 22

Note: Participants needing any additional accommodation nights are responsible to book on their own.

Provisions

Air/Ground Transportation

? Athletes are responsible for their own air or ground transportation to and from Greenville, SC. Athletes looking to carpool, or rideshare should email: ian@ushf.org asap to see if rides may be available.

Meals

? Meals are the responsibility of the athletes, excluding the Mixer / Reception scheduled for Saturday evening, August 29.

Shuttles

? Shuttles may be provided throughout the weekend by Greenville Hospital System, as needed.

Hospitality

? Medalist Sports and US Handcycling will provide each athlete with an invitation to the official hospitality area during the Time Trial Championships and the Road Race Championships

? Medalist Sports and US Handcycling will provide an official event shirt and other "swag" in appropriate for your participation

Prizes

? In kind prizes (only) will be distributed to category winners.
