Proposals Being Accepted for Olympic Opportunity Fund; $500,000 in Grant Money Available to Paralympic Community Organizations

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is now accepting proposals for the 2009 Olympic Opportunity Fund Grant Program. The Olympic Opportunity Fund offers three Paralympic-focused grant programs this year, totaling $500,000 in available financial support for Paralympic community organizations. 

The grant funds are being offered in three categories:  Paralympic Community/Military, Paralympic Sport Club/Military and Paralympic Sport Club. Selected organizations will receive grant funds ranging from $5,000-$35,000. Descriptions for each of the grants are below.

U.S. Paralympic Community/Military Grant Program
This U.S. Paralympic Community/Military Grant Program is designed to assist organizations that encourage the growth of community-based Paralympic sport programs that provide ongoing sports training, programming and support for injured service members.

Maximum grant: $35,000

Paralympic Sport Club Military/Community Grant Program
The Paralympic Sport Club Military/Community Grant Program has been established to encourage active Paralympic Sport Clubs to enhance or develop programs with a focus on serving injured military participants. 

Note:  Only active Paralympic Sport Clubs are eligible for this grant.

Maximum grant: $35,000.00

Paralympic Sport Club Community Grant Program
The Paralympic Sport Club Community Grant Program is being provided to assist Paralympic Sport Clubs to enhance and develop programs that expand participation for a broad range of individuals with physical and visual disabilities. 

Note:  Only active Paralympic Sports are eligible for this grant. 

Maximum grant: $35,000.00
