U.S. PARALYMPICS: Two Athletes Power Their Way to Beijing, China
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is pleased to announce the nomination of two athletes to the U.S. Powerlifting Team that will compete in the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China. The nomination process was based on each athlete's international ranking. The number of slots given was determined by athlete's performance at the World Games and the Intercontinental Championships. The team is comprised of the following athletes: Mary Stack (Ann Arbor, MI)
Anderson Wise (Needham, MA) The team of two consists of one Paralympic veteran and one new-comer. Veteran Mary Stack has been a powerlifter for 17 years at the state, national and international levels, and she was a member of two U.S. Paralympic Powerlifting Teams (2000 , 2004). New-comer Anderson Wise has been training in the sport of powerlifting for three years and will be making his Games-debut this year in Beijing, China."I am very proud of our athletes said head coach Mary Hodge (Farmingdale, NY)."These two are great leaders and good examples for the sport.
