Dr. Peter Ackerman is the managing director of Rockport Capital Inc., a private investment firm. From 1978-90, he was an investment banker at Drexel Burnham Lambert. He served for 15 years as chairman of the board of overseers of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and was chairman of the board of Freedom House.
Ackerman is also a co-founder of the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict and is currently chairman of Americans Elect, which worked to invite every registered voter in the United States to participate in a nonpartisan process to nominate candidates for the 2012 presidential election through an online convention. Ackerman is also a member of various boards, including the executive council of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London. He is also a member of the U.S. advisory council of the United States Institute of Peace and the advisory board for America Abroad Media. He is based in Washington, D.C.
