ANTHOLZ-ANTERSELVA, Italy (January 17, 2014) – Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, NY) posted a 19th place (25:55.1/+2) in today’s 10-kilometer sprint at World Cup 6 in Antholz, Italy. Shooting clean in prone, Bailey picked up two penalties in standing to finish 1:10.2 back from today’s winners – a tie between Italy’s Lukas Hofer (+1) and Germany’s Simon Schempp (+0) both crossing the line at 24:44.9. Arnd Peiffer (GER) finished third (24:49.2/+0).
Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, NY) finished 51st (26:42.1/+3). Leif Nordgren (Marine, MN) and Sean Doherty (Center Conway, NH) did not start in today’s sprint. Extended results are available here.
Bailey and Burke will race for Team USA in tomorrow’s 12.5k pursuit, starting at 8:30am (ET). Susan Dunklee (Barton, VT) and Sara Studebaker (Boise, Idaho) will compete in the 10km pursuit tomorrow, beginning at 5:45am (ET).
