SOCHI, Russia (February 8, 2014) - Olympic competition begins in Sochi on February 8th, with the men's 10-kilometer sprint. Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, NY) leads off starting with bib #26, Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, NY) starts at #43, and making their Olympic debut, Leif Nordgren (Marine, MN) is #73 and Russell Currier (Stockholm, Maine) is #87.

“We all feel excited to get started now,” said Per Nilsson, US Biathlon Head Coach. “The days here in Sochi have been nice with the weather we have had, and we have a good feeling overall. It feels like everybody just want to get started now, the athletes, wax technicians and our entire staff.

For sure, all of us have some butterflies in our stomachs, but that's a part of the game. Everybody is ready to perform at their best and is looking forward to take on the challenge of this tough course and event. The men’s field is really competitive today, but we have good hopes for some good results during the Games,” added Nilsson.
