Dunklee Finishes 16th in Ostersund Sprint


OSTERSUND, SWE (November 29, 2013) – Susan Dunklee (Barton, VT) led Team USA at today’s World Cup 7.5-kilometer sprint in Ostersund. Starting with bib #6, Dunklee cleaned prone and led in the early stages of the race, finishing with a time of 21:41.9, with one penalty in standing.


“Putting both the shooting and skiing pieces together today is a great confidence booster for me,” said Dunklee. “I can't wait for the pursuit this weekend. The times were close so there will be lots of great athletes to ski around.”


Ann Kristin Aafedt Flatland (NOR) won with clean shooting and a time of 20:41.2. Russia’s Olga Zaitseva took second (20:57.1/0), and Tora Berger (NOR) finished third posting a time of 21:03.2 and one penalty.


Dunklee will race for Team USA in Sunday’s 10km pursuit starting at 5:30am (ET). 


Annelies Cook (Saranac Lake, NY) finished 55th with a time of 23:09.2 and two penalties in standing. Sara Studebaker (Boise, ID) posted a time of 23:27.9 and two penalties in standing for 71st . Hannah Dreissigacker (Morrisville, VT) finished 93rd (24:55.6/4+1). Extended results from today’s race are available here.
