CABLE, Wisconsin (January 19, 2013) - Team
USA closed the IPC World Cup in Cable, WI today with a double podium in
the 12.5-kilometer biathlon event. 2010 Paralympic bronze medalist Andy
Soule (Pearland, TX), ret., Army, posted a time of 38:30.3, with one
penalty to take silver. Japan's Kozo Kubo won gold with a time of 37:07.2 and
two penalties. U.S. Navy Seal Dan Cnossen (Topeka,
Kansas) won bronze, his second career biathlon World Cup podium, with a time of
38:55.3 and four penalties.
“It was just one of those days when everything
came together for me," said Soule. "It is very nice to be back on the
podium, and especially nice to share it with a teammate.”
“What a tremendous way to end this great home
event," said John Farra, USOC Paralympic Nordic Skiing High Performance
Director. "Six races in seven days, everyone is beat, but these two saved
just enough to get on the podium together and fire up the rest of the team as
we prepare for World Championships in Solleftea, Sweden.“
