RUHPOLDING, Germany
(January 12, 2013) - Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, NY) cleaned both
stages at the range in today's World Cup 10k sprint to take the top spot, -
26th - for Team USA. Posting a time of 24:59.5, Bailey was 1:08 back from
World Cup leader Martin Fourcade (FRA), winning with clean shooting and a time
of 23:51.5. Evgeny Ustyugov (RUS) was second (24:07.9/0+0), and Andrei Makoveev
(RUS) finished third (24:24.5/0+0).
Jay Hakkinen
(Kasilof, AK) also shot clean today, posting 25:49.8, tying for 54th place with
Norway's Bjorn Ferry. Russell Currier (Stockholm, ME) finished 80th with
a time of 27:02 and four penalties. Leif Nordgren (Marine, MN) had a
tough go in prone, missing all five targets, but shot clean at standing to

World Cup 5 racing
continues in Ruhpolding tomorrow with the Mass Start events. Tim Burke
(Paul Smiths, NY), currently ranked 13th in overall IBU World Cup standings,
will race for Team USA in the 15k event after missing earlier races this
week in Ruhpolding due to illness. The men's 15k mass start begins at 9:30am (ET)
and will be webcast live. Tomorrow's start list and results will be posted here.
