Bringing in the New Year...

Well, its been a different start to the year for me than past years. For the last few years I've traveled at the end of December to the trials races for the Junior World Championships. With all three races coming the last three days of December, this is usually a good week of racing for me. However this year I was fortunate enough to come down with a cold two days before these races... Why fortunate you ask??? Because of my sickness I was not subject to the "brutal" week that my Jr. teammates were exposed to. Beginning with a five hour flight to Anchorage, it was then a very cold week of racing in Alaska. With highs for the week barely getting above zero I would have easily gotten much sicker. But congratulations to my teammates who braved the conditions to get selected to the JWC's team. Fortunately I was pre-qualified so my missing the races was not to big of a deal. Instead I spent the week at home with my parents recovering and getting in some light training. Pretty sure I went to bed at 10pm on New Years eve...ya I'm super cool. For now, I am in a fairly intense training period leading up to the JWC later in the month in Canmore, Alberta.
