Fall Festival Rollerski Biathlon in Elk River, MN

Preregistration is mandatory - please submit names and ages by Oct 22nd via email. Cost for the races is $20 for two days of racing, or $15 for one day. For a little change of pace, this year we will be racing at ELK RIVER, not at Camp Ripley. Formats will be similar to years past, with an Individual Format race on Saturday, and a Mass Start (or wave start) race on Sunday.
Novice Race: we will include a novice event on Saturday only. Cost is $15. All novices should arrive by 11:00am on Saturday and MUST preregister (name, age) via email (mnbiathlon@aol.com). Novice instruction will begin at 11:30am and there will be plenty of time for practice. Novices racers must have their own rollerskis. Rifles, ammunition and instruction will be provided.
Housing information:
There will be some housing available with hosts in the Twin Cities. Email Lou Chouinard at l_chouinard@visi.com and he will try to find you a host situation. Otherwise there is an AmericIn in Elk River: http://www.americinn.com/hotels/MN/ElkRiver

NOTE: There is a building at the range, but it can get rather cold if you are there for several hours. We recommend you bring plenty of warm clothes for spectating, or for post-race. There is a porto-potty in the parking lot.

WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Identification of Risk. I, _________________________________, know biathlon competition, involves risks of serious injury, including permanent disability and death. I understand that these injuries might result not only from my actions, but the actions, inactions, or negligence of others.
Assumption of Risk. I agree that I am responsible for my safety while participating in this biathlon competition. I assume all risks, both known and unknown, connected with my participation.
Waiver. Being aware of the risks and willing to assume them, I waive, release, and hold Minnesota Biathlon , Boy Scouts of American, City of Elk River, Sherburne County, and their affiliate clubs, directors, officers, employees, coaches, sponsors, advertisers, and owners/lessors of used premises from all claims for liability, injury, loss, or damage connected with my participation in this biathlon competition. I intend for this waiver and release to also apply to my relatives, personal representatives, heirs, beneficiaries, next of kin, and assigns.
Insurance. I currently have, and agree to maintain throughout the time I participate, sufficient medical and accident insurance. I understand that this is my responsibility and release any one else from providing it for me.
I have read this agreement carefully, understand that I give up substantial rights by signing it, and sign it voluntarily.

Elk River Biathlon Range
From the Twin Cities: Take I-94 West (& north) to Hwy 101 North to Elk River and Hwy 10 west through 3 lights. At the 3rd light, take a right on Proctor and go (North) then angle LEFT (North-West) onto Elk Lake Rd NW. Continue (North-West) on Elk Lake Rd NW for 2 miles. Go past golf course and Country Club. Immediately past the Country Club, turn right at Woodland Trails Park road to get to parking lot.
From Hwy 169 traveling north: Go west on Hwy 10 to the 3rd light. At the 3rd light take a right on Proctor and go (North) then angle LEFT (North-West) onto Elk Lake Rd NW. Continue (North-West) on Elk Lake Rd NW for 2 miles. Go past golf course and Country Club. Immediately past the Country Club, turn right at Woodland Trails Park road to get to parking lot. From Northern MN traveling south on Hwy169: In the town of Elk River, turn RIGHT (west) onto School St. Go about 2 miles (past all the schools.) Turn RIGHT (North) onto Proctor Ave then angle LEFT (North-West) onto Elk Lake Rd NW. Continue (North-West) on Elk Lake Rd NW for 2 miles. Go past golf course and Country Club. Immediately past the Country Club, turn right at Woodland Trails Park road to get to parking lot.
From the parking lot to the Range: To walk to the range, walk over the grassy hill at the end by the trails, turn right onto the blacktop trail. Keep taking right turns until you intersect the flat, straight trail (old railroad bed). Turn left, and then right down the hill to get to the range. To ski or bike to the range, exit the parking lot on the paved trail going straight out. Take right turns till you intersect the flat, straight trail (old railroad bed). Turn left, and then right down the hill to get to the range.
