Supervision is an effective way for organizations to lower the prevalence of abuse in sport. In order to effectively supervise, it is important for your leaders to recognize prohibited behaviors and to understand what to do in the case a violation occurs. Athletes, especially younger ones, should be supervised at all times. Never allow one-on-one interactions between athletes and staff and always avoid unclear boundaries. A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds, but this doesn’t have to be the case in your organization. Break the mold, effectively supervise your athletes and stop abuse in sport.
